It’s that time of year where LTBB competitors head to Mt. Pleasant to partake in the 2017 Michigan Indian Family Olympics!

We STRONGLY encourage you to participate, especially if you enjoy the following activities: Archery, Long Jump, Jump Rope and Fitness Circuit, Softball Throw, 3 Point Basketball Shot, Running/Walking, and Lacrosse Speed Shot (which is new to this event)!  The Community Health Department aims to bring the First Place Team Trophy back to LTBB!  This is also a great opportunity to promote health and wellness through fun, competitive, physical activities with other Michigan tribes!

Opening Ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Central Michigan University’s Bennett Track & Field located at 1200 S. Franklin Street, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48859.  Kindly plan ahead for the travel time to the MIFO location.  The Event Schedule and the Age Group Breakdown of Event are also attached.

LTBB 2017 MIFO team incentives include paid lodging at the Soaring Eagle Waterpark in Mt. Pleasant, MI on Thursday, July 20, 2017, paid registration fees and a team t-shirt, along with breakfast and snacks/drinks during the Family Olympics.

LTBB MIFO team members will be responsible for transportation and expenses prior to and after the event and a hotel deposit of $50 per room for any amenities incurred during the hotel stay.

As in the past, we will need assistance with setting up and tearing down the LTBB team site.  All LTBB team members are responsible to keep the team site clean.  We do have Volunteer Positions available for LTBB team members.  Team members should arrive at the field by 9 a.m. to participate in the Opening Ceremonies and plan accordingly so you can participate in at least 4 events.  If you do not participate in at least 4 events, then you will be jeopardizing the opportunity to participate with LTBB next year.

Lodging is limited and provided on a first come, first serve basis.  Therefore, you will want to reserve your spot(s) as soon as possible.  We are requiring a minimum of 4 participants in each room and you must have 4 names when you are reserving the room.  Lodging arrangements can be made beginning Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. until Friday, June 30, 2017 at 12 p.m., unless the allotted rooms are full prior to this date.  There will be a waiting list available if all the rooms are reserved. The participant who is reserving the room will be considered the designated responsible party for that particular room.  In the event that the designated responsible party cancels their MIFO participation, the room will automatically be opened to the next participant on the waiting list or the next to call and reserve a room.

Registration forms will be accepted beginning Thursday, June 1, 2017 until Friday, June 30, 2017.  You may mail Registration Forms to Little Traverse Bay Bands Community Health Department, 7500 Odawa Circle, Harbor Springs, MI  49740; or fax to (231)242-1717, Attn: Angeline Roberts; or send via email ARoberts@LTBBODAWA-NSN.GOV.  If you register yourself or others within the timeframe mentioned above, it is your responsibility to contact Angeline Roberts to ensure the registration is paid for by LTBB and to receive a team t-shirt.

For any concerns, volunteering, or practice schedule pertaining to the 2017 Michigan Indian Family Olympics, please contact Angeline Roberts via telephone: (231)242-1601.

We will also have this information and forms at a table in the lobby of the Health Park.
