Human Services Department

The Human Services Department of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians is committed to the support and preservation of all aspects of family life, and to wrapping our services around the Anishinaabek communities. We will help restore holistic balance by calling upon existing resources of elders, trained professionals, traditional and spiritual leaders to empower individuals and families, and strengthen the circle of life as envisioned by our Odawa ancestors.

The Human Services Department currently has two programs that fall under its umbrella.

Social Services Program:
This program consists of Child and Adult Protective Services, and ensuring the welfare of children and adults. Foster care is also under the Social Services Program.

Community Resource Program:
This program consists of Commodity Food Distribution, Daycare Payment Assistance, Low Income Energy Assistance, Community Service Block Grant Emergency Assistance, Burial Fund, Children’s Christmas Party Budget and Planning, and the Holiday Food Voucher Budget and Planning.
